Overview
Renewable energy is derived from natural resources such as biomass, manure, sunlight, wind, tides, and geothermal heat that replinish themselves continuously.
Technological processes convert these resources into energy (electricity, heat and gas) that can be used in homes and businesses. Fuel supplies for renewable energy are generally local and are not subject to the price fluctuations seen for fossil-based fuels fuels. In fact, many renewables generally have little or zero fuel cost.
Why It Matters
Renewable energy creates many public benefits and produces dramatically fewer air and water pollutants than fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels emit sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, mercury, and carbon dioxide. Energy security is increased when our energy portfolio is diversified to include more renewable energy resources. Renewables also provide economic development benefits by allowing money to stay in communities rather than paying to import energy from other areas. The rising cost of traditional fossil-based energy resources and concerns about their effects on the environment are driving increased adoption of clean, renewable technologies.
Biogas to RNG
Venture’s founders have been active in the biomass to RNG market since the early 1990’s. Over the past ten years, the firm has worked on over 15 biogas to RNG projects. There are a variety of ways to upgrade biogas and Venture has been one of the few firms to have deployed most if not all of these biogas upgrading technologies which include membrane plants, PSAs, Amines, Solvents and water wash. Unlike many “RNG Turnkey Solution Providers”, Venture remains technology neutral. Many RNG Solution Providers are equipment suppliers first and foremost and have little to no practical engineering and construction expertise in house. And each technology has differing methane recoveries and capabilities depending on the biogas source (methane, oxygen, nitrogen, NMOCs, etc.), which need to be understood before making a selection.

We also separate ourselves from the pack by offering guaranteed price, schedule and plant performance. Upgrading biogas is often only one component of a biogas to RNG project. Understanding and guaranteeing the biogas production from a landfill or digester prior to upgrading the biogas to pipeline quality is often more crucial to a projects long-term financial success.
