Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. named EPC as Viridi and American Organic Energy’s Food Waste Project Reaches Financial Close
Warrendale, PA (June 27, 2023) – Viridi Energy (“Viridi”), in partnership with American Organic Energy, announced on June 22nd, 2023 that they are set to develop one of the largest food waste-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) projects in the United States with Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. (“Venture”) as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor.
Beginning with Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services in 2022, Venture has been instrumental in bringing the project to the construction phase. With the announcement of financial close, Venture is now on site executing early civil construction works. Located in Yaphank, NY, American Organic Energy will collect Source Separated Organic Waste (“SSOW” i.e., food waste) from residents, grocery stores, and other commercial food entities in the area. In addition, Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) will also be collected to serve as liquid feedstock for the digester. The facility is set to process 210,000 tons of waste annually.

Venture is thrilled to play an integral part in a project serving as proof that energy derived from food waste is a viable avenue in the nation’s effort to utilize renewable energy sources. The site will turn this waste into roughly 530,000 MMBTUs per year, which is enough RNG to fuel up to 545 heavy-duty natural gas trucks annually, resulting in emissions reductions equivalent to nearly 100,000 tons of CO2 per year.
